Woman in wheelchair dies after hit by car | News

A woman crossing the street in a wheelchair Wednesday night was hit and killed by a car, Gresham police said.

On Thursday, the Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 58-year-old Mary R. Telford.

According to police, Telford was crossing Division Street at Lindor Street when a 25-year-old woman hit her with her car. They said Telford rolled out into traffic and was narrowly missed by one vehicle before being hit by a second. Police said the driver stayed on the scene and was not charged with a crime.

There was no indication of drugs or alcohol, police said.

Telford was taken to the hospital in critical condition suffering from a head injury but later died.
