GRESHAM, Ore. - A woman's body was found floating in the Columbia River Monday night and police are trying to figure out how she ended up there.

The body was discovered around 9:30 p.m. at Islands Moorage, which is located at Northeast 189th and Marine Drive.

A neighbor in the area said someone knocked on their door asking if he had seen a missing woman. He hadn't, so he joined the search and ended up finding a woman in the water between a dock and one of the houseboats that are moored there.

"We went looking for her and walked right by her and didn't see her, you know, until my landlord seen (sic) her with the flashlight," said Donovan Shea. "It was kind of pretty bad."

Police did not release much information about their investigation but crime scene photographers were paying a lot of attention to a particular home.

The woman's identity is unknown at this point.
