Girl, 12, stymies home invasion robbery, three arrested | Crime

TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) - Troutdale police arrested three men after a 12-year-old girl alerted them there was a burglar in the house.

Sgt. Steven Bevens says the girl was alone Monday afternoon when someone she didn't know knocked on the door of the home east of Portland.

When she heard the man try to open it, she hid under her bed and called 9-1-1.

Bevens says the girl stayed on the line with a dispatcher as the man forced his way into the home and gathered items to steal. At one point, he was in her room.

Officers arrived and arrested the man at gunpoint. A second suspect was taken into custody after running from the house and a third was arrested in a getaway car.

All three were booked into a Multnomah County jail.
